DESCRIPTION

The tobacco stem flattener processes tobacco stems — the fibrous midribs removed during leaf stripping — by compressing them into a flat profile that can be cut and blended into the finished cigarette production cut filler stream. Stems represent 20 to 30 percent of incoming leaf weight in tobacco manufacturing operations. A stem flattener enables tobacco factories to recover this material as a 5 to 15 percent cut filler inclusion — directly reducing raw material cost per cigarette produced.
