About the Mark 9.5 (Lenze Servo Drives)

This Mark 9.5 was retrofitted with Lenze servo drives in place of the standard mechanical drive train, and that changes what the machine is good at. Rated speed is 3,500 cigarettes per minute on regular diameter and 3,200 on slim and super slim, lower than the 4,500 to 5,000 cpm of our Mark 9 Max S and Mark 9.5 Max S units. What the servo retrofit buys back is precision: faster, cleaner format changeovers and less material waste during the switch, which matters more than peak speed for a factory running frequent format changes.

The line pairs the MK-9.5 cigarette maker with a Max-S filter assembler and an HCF80 auto tray filler, drawing 35KW, 20KW, and 15KW respectively. A Siemens PLC runs the control sequence and a microwave system holds rod weight, the same control architecture used across the Mark 9.5 range.

Circumference and rod-length ranges match the rest of the Mark 9 family at 17mm to 28.3mm and 65mm to 110mm, and the format range covers both 84mm and 100mm rather than the single 84mm setup on the Max S variants.

At 8,600 kg it's the heaviest unit in the Mark 9.5 range, reflecting the added servo hardware. For a factory that changes format often and feels that cost in scrap and downtime, the precision this retrofit buys is usually worth more than the extra 1,000 to 1,500 cigarettes per minute the Max S variants offer.

Three Units, Servo-Driven for Precision

The line is built from three units, each running its own drive:

  • MK-9.5 Cigarette Maker — 35KW
  • MAX-S Filter Assembler — 20KW
  • HCF80 Auto Tray Filler — 15KW

The Lenze servo system controls motion across these units more precisely than a standard mechanical drive train, which is what holds format-change waste down even though the rated top speed sits below the Max S variants.
