About the Hauni KDF-1
Circumference control runs on a laser system, checking filter diameter continuously rather than through periodic manual sampling, which matters most on long runs where a drifting tolerance can go unnoticed until it shows up as rejected product downstream. PLC control is available in SIEMENS or BECKHOFF, paired with either Lenze or Beckhoff servo drives, both of which have active parts and service networks.
At 40KW, this is the lower-power option between the two KDF platforms, sitting below the KDF-2 in total power draw. That difference comes from the mechanical design rather than a shortcut in build quality.
Finished filter rods go into trays that feed the filter rod magazine on the maker's tipper (typically a Max S or Max 80), so the KDF-1 needs to run faster than the tipper consumes rods to keep that buffer from running dry. Rod quality itself comes down to four things in practice: garniture tape condition and tension, plasticizer application rate, cutting blade sharpness, and how well the circumference sensor is calibrated. A drift in any one of those tends to show up as rejects at the tipper rather than at the KDF-1 itself, which is why it's usually the first place to check when tipper rejection rates climb.
How This Compares to the KDF-2
The KDF-1 and KDF-2 share the same filter circumference and length range, and both run on the same PLC and servo system options. The difference is in the production setup. The KDF-2 pairs its filter maker with a tow opener and HCF80 auto tray filler, adding a second unit and additional power draw. The KDF-1 runs as a single-unit line, which keeps the mechanism simpler for factories that do not need the KDF-2's added tow processing stage.
Buying This as a Reconditioned Unit
A reconditioned KDF-1 has already run in a working factory, meaning the platform's known mechanical issues were found and resolved long before this unit reached inspection. That gets you a tested, factory-proven machine at a fraction of new-equipment cost, with documented service history included.
Looking at Other Options
For higher-volume production with an integrated tow opener and tray filler, the Hauni KDF-2 is also in stock. The full cigarette filter making machines range is here if you want to compare across platforms, including the Molins PM-5 and Hollow Tube Maker.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is this a new or reconditioned machine?+
This is a reconditioned Hauni KDF-1, inspected and tested before resale, with a documented service history included.
What is the difference between the KDF-1 and KDF-2?+
The KDF-2 adds a tow opener and HCF80 auto tray filler as a second unit, increasing both capacity and total power draw. The KDF-1 runs as a single-unit line for factories that do not need that additional stage.
What filter lengths can this machine produce?+
64mm to 150mm.
What control system options are available?+
SIEMENS or BECKHOFF PLC control, with either Lenze or Beckhoff servo drives.
What is the total power requirement?+
40KW.
