The platform runs as three integrated units rather than one single machine, which matters for how you plan maintenance and spare parts. The S7000 forms the continuous tobacco rod from blended tobacco and cigarette paper, running at 50KW. The M8000 attaches the filter tip to that rod at 20KW, and the F80 auto tray filler handles output collection at 15KW, feeding finished cigarettes into trays ready for the packing stage. Because each unit runs its own drive, a fault on one stage does not necessarily take down the whole line, and servicing can often happen unit by unit rather than requiring a full shutdown.

Weight control runs on a microwave system built into the line, checking cigarette weight continuously against spec rather than through periodic manual sampling. This matters most on long runs, where a drifting weight tolerance on an older or poorly maintained machine shows up as wasted tobacco and inconsistent product long before anyone catches it manually. Control runs on SIEMENS IPC or BECKHOFF IPC depending on the specific unit, both of which have active parts and service networks, so a control fault does not mean waiting on a hard-to-source proprietary part.

The ER in the name stands for Extended Range, referring to this built-in microwave weight control plus the SIEMENS/BECKHOFF IPC platform, both standard here rather than optional. Together they hold cigarette rod weight to a coefficient of variation below 4%, a tighter tolerance band than the standard Protos 80 delivers without the microwave upgrade.
